The
following applies to water slide decals only
It has been suggested that these older decals can be less prone to cracking if they are first cut to outline, and then sprayed lightly with a fresh coat of clear laquer. Allow that to dry, and then try soaking the decal and follow the instructions.
Over
time our water slide decals have become more fragile and difficult to
apply. However they retain their bright colors and detail.
We
have two suggestions to assist in application:
1.
After wetting the decal with warm water to which you have added a drop or two
of dish detergent, allow decal to lay flat for 10 to 15 minutes
before removing from paper backing. VERY Carefully remove
from backing and apply to tank as usual.
2.
If you cannot get the decal off whole without tearing, cut decal
carefully around the border. Spray paper backing with 3M permanent spray
glue, and apply to tank. When dry for 2 to 3 days, spray lightly
with clear lacquer.
This
works well for a show or display motor, but is not advised for a motor
that will be used in water.
Small
S&O and other accessory decals remain easy to apply.
